Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Tavaborole? Is Tavaborole safe for nursing mother and child? Does Tavaborole extracts into breast milk? Does Tavaborole has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Tavaborole influence milk supply or can Tavaborole decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Tavaborole usage in lactation

Topical tavaborole has not been studied during breastfeeding. Because blood levels are very low after topical application to the toenails, it is unlikely that a measurable amount of the drug will enter the breastmilk.
