I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Ferric Pyrophosphate Citrate? Is Ferric Pyrophosphate Citrate safe for nursing mother and child? Does Ferric Pyrophosphate Citrate extracts into breast milk? Does Ferric Pyrophosphate Citrate has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Ferric Pyrophosphate Citrate influence milk supply or can Ferric Pyrophosphate Citrate decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

No information is available on the use of ferric pyrophosphate citrate during breastfeeding and the manufacturer recommends that it not be used during breastfeeding. An alternate intravenous drug with more published data available may be preferred. Pasteurization of milk by the Holder method reduces the concentration of iron in milk by about 6.5%.[1]
