I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use U 17835? Is U 17835 safe for nursing mother and child? Does U 17835 extracts into breast milk? Does U 17835 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can U 17835 influence milk supply or can U 17835 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About U 17835 usage in lactation

Because no information is available on the use of U 17835 during breastfeeding, an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant. Monitor breastfed infants for signs of hypoglycemia such as jitteriness, excessive sleepiness, poor feeding, seizures cyanosis, apnea, or hypothermia. If there is concern, monitoring of the breastfed infant's blood glucose is advisable during maternal therapy with hypoglycemic agents.[1][2]
