Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Olaparib? Is Olaparib safe for nursing mother and child? Does Olaparib extracts into breast milk? Does Olaparib has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Olaparib influence milk supply or can Olaparib decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Olaparib usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of olaparib during breastfeeding. Because olaparib is 82% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during olaparib therapy and for one month after the last dose.
