Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Niraparib? Is Niraparib safe for nursing mother and child? Does Niraparib extracts into breast milk? Does Niraparib has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Niraparib influence milk supply or can Niraparib decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Niraparib usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of niraparib during breastfeeding. Because niraparib is 83% bound to plasma proteins, the amount in milk is likely to be low. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during niraparib therapy and for 1 month following therapy.
