Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Binimetinib? Is Binimetinib safe for nursing mother and child? Does Binimetinib extracts into breast milk? Does Binimetinib has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Binimetinib influence milk supply or can Binimetinib decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Binimetinib usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of binimetinib during breastfeeding. Because binimetinib is 97% bound to plasma proteins, and the half-life of the drugis 3.5 hours, the amount in milk is likely to be low. However, the manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during binimetinib therapy and for at least 3 days after the final dose. For patients taking the combination with encorafenib, the manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during binimetinib therapy and for at least 2 weeks after the final dose.
