Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Baricitinib? Is Baricitinib safe for nursing mother and child? Does Baricitinib extracts into breast milk? Does Baricitinib has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Baricitinib influence milk supply or can Baricitinib decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Baricitinib usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of baricitinib during breastfeeding. Until more data become available, an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during baricitinib therapy.
