I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Diacerein? Is Diacerein safe for nursing mother and child? Does Diacerein extracts into breast milk? Does Diacerein has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Diacerein influence milk supply or can Diacerein decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

It metabolizes to rein (rhubarb anthraquinone glycoside). Most possible serious effect is diarrhea. Due to higher %protein binding, excretion to breast milk are unlikely. Absorption through the child’s gut is interfered by the calcium contained in the milk.
