Answer by Dr. Ru: About Bone Marrow Donation usage in lactation

General, epidural or local anesthesia, as well as pretreatment with stimulating factors granulocyte colony (G-CSF), which may require the procedure, are not considered contraindications to breastfeeding. Neither analgesics that may be needed after the procedure. A healthy nursing mother can be, if desired and illegible, a bone marrow donor. The G-CSF obtained by recombinant technology is identical to the natural product, which is a natural component of breast milk. Their very high molecular weight explains the insignificant or excretion into milk that has been observed with both lenograstim and filgrastim. A low oral bioavailability makes difficult their appearance into plasma from the ingested breast milk as for their protein nature, both are degraded in the gastrointestinal tract, and not absorbed. Filgrastim is not absorbed, even during the neonatal period or by premature infants. Stimulating factor granulocyte colony (G-CSF) have been used in premature newborns and for prevention and treatment of neonatal sepsis and necrotizing enterocolitis with no adverse effects having been observed. The bovine G-CSF is found in the usual diet of meat eaters. See below the information of these related products:
