I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Chitosan? Is Chitosan safe for nursing mother and child? Does Chitosan extracts into breast milk? Does Chitosan has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Chitosan influence milk supply or can Chitosan decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Polysaccharide polymers composed of glucosamine and N-acetylglucosamine which are derived from chitin deacetylation of the exoskeleton of crustaceanswith a molecular weight of 200,000 to over one million daltons andmany industrial, agricultural, veterinary and biomedical uses. At latest update no published data on excretion into breast milk were found.Its high molecular weight makes any passage through breast milk very unlikely.Product which is devoid of toxicity. Controlled studies have failed to prove its effectiveness as lipid-lowering or slimming enhancer.Intake of reduced calorie diets and moderate exercising are accepted as more effective.
