I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use HSDB 8121? Is HSDB 8121 safe for nursing mother and child? Does HSDB 8121 extracts into breast milk? Does HSDB 8121 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can HSDB 8121 influence milk supply or can HSDB 8121 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Precursor of Penciclovir which is used for treatment of infections due to Herpes zoster and Herpes simplex viruses. At latest update, relevant published data on excretion into breast milk were not found. Possibly, a low risk medication during breastfeeding, since similar pharmacokinetics and side-effects are shared with well known drugs pertaining to the same family. Until more data on this medication is available, safer alternative drugs are preferred, especially in such critical age periods.

Because there is no published experience with HSDB 8121 during breastfeeding, other agents may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
