Answer by Dr. Ru: About Ossazepam usage in lactation

Short-acting benzodiacepine. Diazepam active metabolite. Excreted into breast milk in non-significant level. No harm effects on breastfed infants have been shown. Eventual and low dose use of benzodiacepines are compatible with breastfeeding. Use the short-acting benzodiazepine and minimal effective dose as possible mostly in the neonatal period. Check-up for infant sedation and feeding problems. Bed-sharing is not recommended for mothers who are taking this medication.

Answer by DrLact: About Ossazepam usage in lactation

Ossazepam has low levels in breastmilk, a short half-life relative to many other benzodiazepines, and is administration directly to infants. Ossazepam would not be expected to cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants with usual maternal dosages. No special precautions are required.

Ossazepam Side Effects in Breastfeeding

A woman with major depression was treated with Ossazepam and her breastfed infant was reportedly sedated. The dosage of Ossazepam, age of the infant and extent of nursing were not reported.[4] In a telephone follow-up study, 124 mothers who took a benzodiazepine while nursing reported whether their infants had any signs of sedation. Two mothers took Ossazepam while breastfeeding and neither reported sedation in her infant.[5]
