I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Lactulose? Is Lactulose safe for nursing mother and child? Does Lactulose extracts into breast milk? Does Lactulose has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Lactulose influence milk supply or can Lactulose decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Disaccharide (galactose and fructose) which is barely absorbed by the small intestine and reaches the large intestine (colon) where it exerts its action as an osmotic laxative drug. A small amount that is absorbed is excreted unmodified in the urine. At latest update were not found published data on excretion into breast milk. However, because it does not reach the mother's plasma, any concentration in the milk is not expected. Medication with authorized indication in infants.
