I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Diphenoxylatum [Latin]? Is Diphenoxylatum [Latin] safe for nursing mother and child? Does Diphenoxylatum [Latin] extracts into breast milk? Does Diphenoxylatum [Latin] has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Diphenoxylatum [Latin] influence milk supply or can Diphenoxylatum [Latin] decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

No data exist on the use of Diphenoxylatum [Latin] during breastfeeding. One expert panel considers Diphenoxylatum [Latin] to be unacceptable during breastfeeding.[1] Based on its chemical and pharmacological similarity to narcotics, occasional small doses of Diphenoxylatum [Latin] may be acceptable while breastfeeding an older infant, but alternatives are preferred, especially while nursing a newborn.
