Answer by Dr. Ru: About Sertaconazole Nitrate usage in lactation

Imidazole antifungal used topically as a cream on skin or in the form of vaginal ovules. Since the last update we have not found published data on its excretion in breast milk. Its negligible or nil systemic absorption through the skin or vaginal mucosa (Croxtall 2009, Wang 2009, Susilo 2006, Farré 1992) and its high percentage of plasma protein binding, make it very unlikely that significant amounts will pass into breast milk. Wash hands thoroughly after application. Avoid using it on the breast or cleanse before nursing.
