Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Bactine Triple Antibiotic? Is Bactine Triple Antibiotic safe for nursing mother and child? Does Bactine Triple Antibiotic extracts into breast milk? Does Bactine Triple Antibiotic has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Bactine Triple Antibiotic influence milk supply or can Bactine Triple Antibiotic decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Bactine Triple Antibiotic usage in lactation

Because it is poorly absorbed after topical application and oral ingestion, Bactine Triple Antibiotic is considered a low risk to the nursing infant.[1] Only water-miscible cream or gel products should be applied to the breast because ointments may expose the infant to high levels of mineral paraffins via licking.[2]
