Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use UNII-K2I13DR72L? Is UNII-K2I13DR72L safe for nursing mother and child? Does UNII-K2I13DR72L extracts into breast milk? Does UNII-K2I13DR72L has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can UNII-K2I13DR72L influence milk supply or can UNII-K2I13DR72L decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About UNII-K2I13DR72L usage in lactation

Amounts of gadolinium excreted into breastmilk after maternal UNII-K2I13DR72L are less than 1% of the amount allowed to be given to infants. In addition, because UNII-K2I13DR72L is poorly absorbed orally, it is not likely to reach the bloodstream of the infant or cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants. UNII-K2I13DR72L has been associated with some cases of nephrogenic systemic fibrosis in patients with renal impairment. On this theoretical basis, European sources recommend that the mother pump and discard milk for 24 hours after receiving UNII-K2I13DR72L.[1][2] However, guidelines developed by several North American professional organizations state that breastfeeding need not be disrupted after a nursing mother receives a gadolinium-containing contrast medium.[3][4][5]
