I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use BRN 2057223? Is BRN 2057223 safe for nursing mother and child? Does BRN 2057223 extracts into breast milk? Does BRN 2057223 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can BRN 2057223 influence milk supply or can BRN 2057223 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About BRN 2057223 usage in lactation

BRN 2057223 has not been studied during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should probably be avoided after oral use. Because it is poorly absorbed after topical application, it is considered a low risk to the nursing infant.[1][2][3] Ensure that the infant's skin does not come into direct contact with the areas of skin that have been treated. Only water-miscible cream or gel products should be applied to the breast because ointments may expose the infant to high levels of mineral paraffins via licking.[4]

BRN 2057223 Possible Effects in Breastfeeding

A review of adverse reaction reports on retinoids causing a breast reaction submitted to a French pharmacovigilance center found 1 case of gynecomastia was associated with topical BRN 2057223 use.[5]
