I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Butenafina [INN-Spanish]? Is Butenafina [INN-Spanish] safe for nursing mother and child? Does Butenafina [INN-Spanish] extracts into breast milk? Does Butenafina [INN-Spanish] has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Butenafina [INN-Spanish] influence milk supply or can Butenafina [INN-Spanish] decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Butenafina [INN-Spanish] usage in lactation

Topical Butenafina [INN-Spanish] has not been studied during breastfeeding. Because it is poorly absorbed after topical application, it is not likely to reach the bloodstream of the infant or cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants. Ensure that the infant's skin does not come into direct contact with the areas of skin that have been treated. Only water-miscible cream or gel products should be applied to the breast because ointments may expose the infant to high levels of mineral paraffins via licking.[1]
