I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Biligrafin? Is Biligrafin safe for nursing mother and child? Does Biligrafin extracts into breast milk? Does Biligrafin has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Biligrafin influence milk supply or can Biligrafin decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?
Intravenous iodinated contrast media are poorly excreted into breastmilk and poorly absorbed orally so they are not likely to reach the bloodstream of the infant or cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants. Guidelines developed by several professional organizations state that breastfeeding need not be disrupted after a nursing mother receives a iodine-containing contrast medium.[1][2][3][4] However, because there is no published experience with Biligrafin during breastfeeding, other agents may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
