I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Atrovent Aerosol? Is Atrovent Aerosol safe for nursing mother and child? Does Atrovent Aerosol extracts into breast milk? Does Atrovent Aerosol has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Atrovent Aerosol influence milk supply or can Atrovent Aerosol decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

At latest update no published data on excretion into breastmilk were found.
Because of a large volume of distribution along with a very low or undetectable plasma concentration reached after inhalation (Laurikainen 1988, Wood 1995), it must be very unlikely the passage of significant amounts into breastmilk.
Its low oral bioavailability would hamper the pass to the infant’s plasma through the breastmilk ingested.
It has been used to treat newborns (Pediamecum 2015).
Experts and scientific societies consider the use of Atrovent Aerosol bromide during breastfeeding as devoid of risk to the infant (van Haren 1998, National Asthma Education 2004, Amir 2011).

Although no published data exist on the use of Atrovent Aerosol, its use produces negligible maternal serum levels and any drug in breastmilk would not be absorbed by the infant. The risk to the breastfed infant of maternal Atrovent Aerosol inhalation is small.
