I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Mepantin? Is Mepantin safe for nursing mother and child? Does Mepantin extracts into breast milk? Does Mepantin has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Mepantin influence milk supply or can Mepantin decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

If Mepantin is required by the mother, it is not necessarily a reason to discontinue breastfeeding. However, because there is little published experience with Mepantin during breastfeeding, other agents may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant, or when other drugs that can cause sedation are used simultaneously.
Mepantin Side Effects in Breastfeeding
A mother taking carisoprodol 700 mg plus propoxyphene 70 mg and acetaminophen 900 mg 3 times daily and partially breastfeeding her infant noticed no unusual behavior or adverse reactions in her infant. The infant grew normally and, at 6 months of age, examination by a pediatrician found normal psychomotor development.[2]
Mepantin Possible Effects in Breastfeeding
One paper reported that some psychiatric patients receiving Mepantin alone or in combination with other psychotropic drugs developed galactorrhea. Further details of Mepantin use were not reported.[4]
