Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Spiriva Respimat? Is Spiriva Respimat safe for nursing mother and child? Does Spiriva Respimat extracts into breast milk? Does Spiriva Respimat has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Spiriva Respimat influence milk supply or can Spiriva Respimat decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Spiriva Respimat usage in lactation

Although no published data exist on the use of Spiriva Respimat, its use produces negligible maternal serum levels and any drug in breastmilk would not be absorbed by the infant. The risk to the breastfed infant of maternal Spiriva Respimat inhalation is small.
