Ergot-derivative alkaloid with an inhibiting effect on prolactin and dopamine release, used for treatment of prolactinoma, Parkinson’s Disease, brain vascular insufficiency and senile dementia. It may suppress lactation by inhibiting prolactin release. Nonessential drug.
