Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use UNII-090IP5RV8F? Is UNII-090IP5RV8F safe for nursing mother and child? Does UNII-090IP5RV8F extracts into breast milk? Does UNII-090IP5RV8F has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can UNII-090IP5RV8F influence milk supply or can UNII-090IP5RV8F decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About UNII-090IP5RV8F usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of UNII-090IP5RV8F during breastfeeding. The manufacturer states that breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment and for 4 days after the last dose. However, based on the excretion of other tetracycline antibiotics UNII-090IP5RV8F, amounts in milk are expected to be low and probably poorly absorbed orally by the breastfed infant. If an infant is breastfed, monitor the infant for possible effects on the gastrointestinal flora, such as diarrhea, candidiasis (e.g., thrush, diaper rash) or rarely, blood in the stool indicating possible antibiotic-associated colitis. As a theoretical precaution, avoid prolonged or repeat courses during nursing.
