Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Natrii stibogluconas? Is Natrii stibogluconas safe for nursing mother and child? Does Natrii stibogluconas extracts into breast milk? Does Natrii stibogluconas has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Natrii stibogluconas influence milk supply or can Natrii stibogluconas decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Natrii stibogluconas usage in lactation

Limited information indicates that maternal doses of Natrii stibogluconas up to 1.4 grams daily produce low levels in milk and would not be expected to cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants,[1] especially if the infant is older than 2 months. However, if withholding nursing during therapy is elected, breastfeeding can be reinstituted 24 to 48 hours after the last dose.
