Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use SKF 82526? Is SKF 82526 safe for nursing mother and child? Does SKF 82526 extracts into breast milk? Does SKF 82526 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can SKF 82526 influence milk supply or can SKF 82526 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About SKF 82526 usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of SKF 82526 during breastfeeding. Because of its poor oral bioavailability and short half-life, any SKF 82526 in milk is unlikely to adversely affect the breastfed infant. Also, SKF 82526 can be given intravenously to infants. Unlike dopamine, it does not decrease serum prolactin concentrations and might not interfere with nursing.

SKF 82526 Possible Effects in Breastfeeding

Relevant published information in nursing mothers was not found as of the revision date. Unlike dopamine, SKF 82526 infusion does not affect serum prolactin concentration in normal women.[1] The prolactin level in a mother with established lactation may not affect her ability to breastfeed.
