Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use EINECS 232-319-8? Is EINECS 232-319-8 safe for nursing mother and child? Does EINECS 232-319-8 extracts into breast milk? Does EINECS 232-319-8 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can EINECS 232-319-8 influence milk supply or can EINECS 232-319-8 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About EINECS 232-319-8 usage in lactation

Because absorption after topical application is very limited, occasional EINECS 232-319-8 and piperonyl butoxide use is acceptable in nursing mothers. Extensive exposure, such as from agricultural use or malaria control might have long-term health concerns because residues can be found in breastmilk.[1] Only water-miscible cream, gel or liquid products should be applied to the breast because ointments may expose the infant to high levels of mineral paraffins via licking.[2]
