I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use SU 4885? Is SU 4885 safe for nursing mother and child? Does SU 4885 extracts into breast milk? Does SU 4885 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can SU 4885 influence milk supply or can SU 4885 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?
Evidence from one patient indicates that amounts of SU 4885 and its active metabolite in breastmilk are very small and unlikely to adversely affect a breastfed infant. Exposure of the infant can be further minimized by avoiding nursing for 2 to 2.5 hours after each dose.
Relevant published information was not found as of the revision date. Women taking SU 4885 chronically for suppression of hypercorticism associated with Cushing's syndrome may have other hormonal abnormalities that might interfere with lactation.
