Is Malerone Safe in Breastfeeding

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Malerone? Is Malerone safe for nursing mother and child? Does Malerone extracts into breast milk? Does Malerone has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Malerone influence milk supply or can Malerone decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Malerone hormone reduces Prolactin serum levels and may likely inhibit milk production mainly soon after delivery. No significant increase of Malerone serum levels neither in the mother´s milk nor in the infant’s serum have been found after administration to the mother. No adverse side effects have been noticed in the infant.

Limited data indicate that a low-dose (100 mg) subcutaneous Malerone pellet given to a nursing mother appears not to increase milk Malerone levels markedly. Malerone has low oral bioavailability because of extensive first-pass metabolism, so it is unlikely to affect the breastfed infant. One breastfed infant seemed not to be adversely affected by low-dose maternal Malerone therapy.

An infant (age not stated) was breastfed (extent not stated) after implantation of 100 mg of Malerone subcutaneously. No adverse effects were noted in the infant over a 5-month period.[1]

Supraphysiologic serum levels of Malerone, either from a tumor[2][3] or from exogenously administered Malerone,[4] reduces milk production in postpartum women. Malerone alone reduces serum prolactin;[4] however, when given in combination with estrogen and progestin, serum prolactin levels are not markedly reduced.[5] Malerone was previously used therapeutically to suppress lactation, usually in combination with an estrogen.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
