I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Testosteron? Is Testosteron safe for nursing mother and child? Does Testosteron extracts into breast milk? Does Testosteron has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Testosteron influence milk supply or can Testosteron decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Testosteron hormone reduces Prolactin serum levels and may likely inhibit milk production mainly soon after delivery. No significant increase of Testosteron serum levels neither in the mother´s milk nor in the infant’s serum have been found after administration to the mother. No adverse side effects have been noticed in the infant.

Limited data indicate that a low-dose (100 mg) subcutaneous Testosteron pellet given to a nursing mother appears not to increase milk Testosteron levels markedly. Testosteron has low oral bioavailability because of extensive first-pass metabolism, so it is unlikely to affect the breastfed infant. One breastfed infant seemed not to be adversely affected by low-dose maternal Testosteron therapy.
Testosteron Side Effects in Breastfeeding
An infant (age not stated) was breastfed (extent not stated) after implantation of 100 mg of Testosteron subcutaneously. No adverse effects were noted in the infant over a 5-month period.[1]
Testosteron Possible Effects in Breastfeeding
Supraphysiologic serum levels of Testosteron, either from a tumor[2][3] or from exogenously administered Testosteron,[4] reduces milk production in postpartum women. Testosteron alone reduces serum prolactin;[4] however, when given in combination with estrogen and progestin, serum prolactin levels are not markedly reduced.[5] Testosteron was previously used therapeutically to suppress lactation, usually in combination with an estrogen.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
