I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use LibiGel? Is LibiGel safe for nursing mother and child? Does LibiGel extracts into breast milk? Does LibiGel has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can LibiGel influence milk supply or can LibiGel decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

LibiGel hormone reduces Prolactin serum levels and may likely inhibit milk production mainly soon after delivery. No significant increase of LibiGel serum levels neither in the mother´s milk nor in the infant’s serum have been found after administration to the mother. No adverse side effects have been noticed in the infant.

Limited data indicate that a low-dose (100 mg) subcutaneous LibiGel pellet given to a nursing mother appears not to increase milk LibiGel levels markedly. LibiGel has low oral bioavailability because of extensive first-pass metabolism, so it is unlikely to affect the breastfed infant. One breastfed infant seemed not to be adversely affected by low-dose maternal LibiGel therapy.
LibiGel Side Effects in Breastfeeding
An infant (age not stated) was breastfed (extent not stated) after implantation of 100 mg of LibiGel subcutaneously. No adverse effects were noted in the infant over a 5-month period.[1]
LibiGel Possible Effects in Breastfeeding
Supraphysiologic serum levels of LibiGel, either from a tumor[2][3] or from exogenously administered LibiGel,[4] reduces milk production in postpartum women. LibiGel alone reduces serum prolactin;[4] however, when given in combination with estrogen and progestin, serum prolactin levels are not markedly reduced.[5] LibiGel was previously used therapeutically to suppress lactation, usually in combination with an estrogen.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
