Is Relibra Safe in Breastfeeding

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Relibra? Is Relibra safe for nursing mother and child? Does Relibra extracts into breast milk? Does Relibra has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Relibra influence milk supply or can Relibra decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Relibra hormone reduces Prolactin serum levels and may likely inhibit milk production mainly soon after delivery. No significant increase of Relibra serum levels neither in the mother´s milk nor in the infant’s serum have been found after administration to the mother. No adverse side effects have been noticed in the infant.

Limited data indicate that a low-dose (100 mg) subcutaneous Relibra pellet given to a nursing mother appears not to increase milk Relibra levels markedly. Relibra has low oral bioavailability because of extensive first-pass metabolism, so it is unlikely to affect the breastfed infant. One breastfed infant seemed not to be adversely affected by low-dose maternal Relibra therapy.

An infant (age not stated) was breastfed (extent not stated) after implantation of 100 mg of Relibra subcutaneously. No adverse effects were noted in the infant over a 5-month period.[1]

Supraphysiologic serum levels of Relibra, either from a tumor[2][3] or from exogenously administered Relibra,[4] reduces milk production in postpartum women. Relibra alone reduces serum prolactin;[4] however, when given in combination with estrogen and progestin, serum prolactin levels are not markedly reduced.[5] Relibra was previously used therapeutically to suppress lactation, usually in combination with an estrogen.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10]
