I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use D 40TA? Is D 40TA safe for nursing mother and child? Does D 40TA extracts into breast milk? Does D 40TA has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can D 40TA influence milk supply or can D 40TA decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Choose a short half-life span benzodiazepine. Occasional usage is considered to be safe. Avoid its continuous use. Try to avoid it on postnatal period or if the infant nurses frequently by night. Follow-up for sedation and feeding ability of the infant. Bed-sharing is not recommended for mothers who are taking this medication.

No information is available on the use of D 40TA during breastfeeding. Because of the long duration of action of D 40TA, an alternate hypnotic is preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
