Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use OPT 80? Is OPT 80 safe for nursing mother and child? Does OPT 80 extracts into breast milk? Does OPT 80 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can OPT 80 influence milk supply or can OPT 80 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About OPT 80 usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of fidxomicin during breastfeeding. Because it is poorly absorbed orally, it is not likely to reach the bloodstream of the infant or cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants.
