Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use R-Tiacumicin B? Is R-Tiacumicin B safe for nursing mother and child? Does R-Tiacumicin B extracts into breast milk? Does R-Tiacumicin B has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can R-Tiacumicin B influence milk supply or can R-Tiacumicin B decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About R-Tiacumicin B usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of fidxomicin during breastfeeding. Because it is poorly absorbed orally, it is not likely to reach the bloodstream of the infant or cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants.
