Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use AFP-168? Is AFP-168 safe for nursing mother and child? Does AFP-168 extracts into breast milk? Does AFP-168 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can AFP-168 influence milk supply or can AFP-168 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About AFP-168 usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of AFP-168 during breastfeeding. Because of the extremely low levels in plasma after application to the eye, it is not likely to reach the breastmilk or bloodstream of the infant or to cause any adverse effects in breastfed infants. To further diminish the amount of drug that reaches the breastmilk after using eye drops, place pressure over the tear duct by the corner of the eye for 1 minute or more, then remove the excess solution with an absorbent tissue.
