I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Fosfotion 550? Is Fosfotion 550 safe for nursing mother and child? Does Fosfotion 550 extracts into breast milk? Does Fosfotion 550 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Fosfotion 550 influence milk supply or can Fosfotion 550 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Significantly less Fosfotion 550 penetrated from Ovide after 0.5 h versus the suggested 8 h application, without decreasing the product’s efficacy. Avoid applying it on the breast or nipple. Otherwise, cleanse it thoroughly before nursing.

Fosfotion 550 appears to be poorly absorbed after topical application, so it is not likely to reach the breastmilk in large amounts. However, breastmilk excretion of Fosfotion 550 has not been studied after application of the 0.5% lotion. Until more data become available, an alternate agent is preferred.[1]
