I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Tasocitinib? Is Tasocitinib safe for nursing mother and child? Does Tasocitinib extracts into breast milk? Does Tasocitinib has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Tasocitinib influence milk supply or can Tasocitinib decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?
No information is available on the clinical use of Tasocitinib during breastfeeding. If Tasocitinib is required by the mother, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding.[1] However, until more data become available, Tasocitinib should be used with caution during breastfeeding and an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.[2] The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during Tasocitinib therapy and for 18 hours after the last dose of Xeljanz or 36 hours after the last dose of Xeljanz XR.
