Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use HSDB 8311? Is HSDB 8311 safe for nursing mother and child? Does HSDB 8311 extracts into breast milk? Does HSDB 8311 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can HSDB 8311 influence milk supply or can HSDB 8311 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About HSDB 8311 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of HSDB 8311 during breastfeeding. If HSDB 8311 is required by the mother, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding.[1] However, until more data become available, HSDB 8311 should be used with caution during breastfeeding and an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.[2] The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during HSDB 8311 therapy and for 18 hours after the last dose of Xeljanz or 36 hours after the last dose of Xeljanz XR.
