Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use CCI-779? Is CCI-779 safe for nursing mother and child? Does CCI-779 extracts into breast milk? Does CCI-779 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can CCI-779 influence milk supply or can CCI-779 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About CCI-779 usage in lactation

CCI-779 is a prodrug of sirolimus. Because no information is available on the use of CCI-779 or sirolimus during breastfeeding, an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during bevacizumab therapy and for 3 weeks following the last dose.
