Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use DA-7157? Is DA-7157 safe for nursing mother and child? Does DA-7157 extracts into breast milk? Does DA-7157 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can DA-7157 influence milk supply or can DA-7157 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About DA-7157 usage in lactation

If DA-7157 is required by the mother, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding. Monitor the infant for possible effects on the gastrointestinal tract, such as diarrhea, vomiting, and candidiasis (e.g., thrush, diaper rash). However, because there is no published experience with DA-7157 during breastfeeding, an alternate drug may be preferred, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant.
