No information is available on the clinical use of Pituitary gland adreno cortico-tropic hormone during breastfeeding. It is unlikely to appear in breastmilk and because it is has a molecular weight of 4540 and a half-life of only 10 to 15 minutes. Absorption by the infant is unlikely because it would probably be destroyed in the infant's gastrointestinal tract. Based on animal data, an increase in breastmilk cortisol levels might be expected after administration of Pituitary gland adreno cortico-tropic hormone to a nursing mother.[1] If Pituitary gland adreno cortico-tropic hormone is required by the mother, it is not a reason to discontinue breastfeeding.
