Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Sch 900475? Is Sch 900475 safe for nursing mother and child? Does Sch 900475 extracts into breast milk? Does Sch 900475 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Sch 900475 influence milk supply or can Sch 900475 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Sch 900475 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of Sch 900475 during breastfeeding. Because Sch 900475 is a large protein molecule with a molecular weight of about 149,000, the amount in milk is likely to be very low and absorption is unlikely because it is probably destroyed in the infant's gastrointestinal tract. Until more data become available, Sch 900475 should be used with caution during breastfeeding, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during Sch 900475 therapy and for 4 months after the last dose.
