Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use HSDB 8257? Is HSDB 8257 safe for nursing mother and child? Does HSDB 8257 extracts into breast milk? Does HSDB 8257 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can HSDB 8257 influence milk supply or can HSDB 8257 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About HSDB 8257 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of HSDB 8257 during breastfeeding. Because HSDB 8257 is a large protein molecule with a molecular weight of about 149,000, the amount in milk is likely to be very low and absorption is unlikely because it is probably destroyed in the infant's gastrointestinal tract. Until more data become available, HSDB 8257 should be used with caution during breastfeeding, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during HSDB 8257 therapy and for 4 months after the last dose.
