Answer by DrLact: About 1,2,3-Propanetricarboxylic acid, 2-hydroxy-, iron(3+) sodium salt (1:1:1), mixt. with iron(3+) diphosphate usage in lactation

No information is available on the use of 1,2,3-Propanetricarboxylic acid, 2-hydroxy-, iron(3+) sodium salt (1:1:1), mixt. with iron(3+) diphosphate during breastfeeding and the manufacturer recommends that it not be used during breastfeeding. An alternate intravenous drug with more published data available may be preferred. Pasteurization of milk by the Holder method reduces the concentration of iron in milk by about 6.5%.[1]
