I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Sodium ferricitropyrophosphate? Is Sodium ferricitropyrophosphate safe for nursing mother and child? Does Sodium ferricitropyrophosphate extracts into breast milk? Does Sodium ferricitropyrophosphate has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Sodium ferricitropyrophosphate influence milk supply or can Sodium ferricitropyrophosphate decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

No information is available on the use of Sodium ferricitropyrophosphate during breastfeeding and the manufacturer recommends that it not be used during breastfeeding. An alternate intravenous drug with more published data available may be preferred. Pasteurization of milk by the Holder method reduces the concentration of iron in milk by about 6.5%.[1]
