I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Ferumoxytol non-stoichiometric magnetite? Is Ferumoxytol non-stoichiometric magnetite safe for nursing mother and child? Does Ferumoxytol non-stoichiometric magnetite extracts into breast milk? Does Ferumoxytol non-stoichiometric magnetite has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Ferumoxytol non-stoichiometric magnetite influence milk supply or can Ferumoxytol non-stoichiometric magnetite decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

No information is available on the use of Ferumoxytol non-stoichiometric magnetite during breastfeeding; however, the drug has been given safely to neonates intravenously.[1][2][3] An alternate intravenous iron product with more published data on breastfeeding available may be preferred. Pasteurization of milk by the Holder method reduces the concentration of iron in milk by about 6.5%.[4]
