Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use Ch 14.18? Is Ch 14.18 safe for nursing mother and child? Does Ch 14.18 extracts into breast milk? Does Ch 14.18 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can Ch 14.18 influence milk supply or can Ch 14.18 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About Ch 14.18 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of Ch 14.18 during breastfeeding. Because Ch 14.18 is a large protein molecule with a molecular weight of about 150,000, the amount in milk is likely to be very low and absorption is unlikely because it is probably destroyed in the infant's gastrointestinal tract. Until more data become available, Ch 14.18 should be used with caution during breastfeeding, especially while nursing a newborn or preterm infant. The manufacturer recommends that breastfeeding be discontinued during Ch 14.18 therapy.
