Question

I am a breastfeeding mother and i want to know if it is safe to use PDL063? Is PDL063 safe for nursing mother and child? Does PDL063 extracts into breast milk? Does PDL063 has any long term or short term side effects on infants? Can PDL063 influence milk supply or can PDL063 decrease milk supply in lactating mothers?

Answer by DrLact: About PDL063 usage in lactation

No information is available on the clinical use of PDL063 during breastfeeding. Because PDL063 is a large protein molecule with a molecular weight of 148,100, the amount in milk is likely to be very low and absorption is unlikely because it is probably destroyed in the infant's gastrointestinal tract. However, PDL063 is administered with dexamethasone and lenalidomide, two drugs which also have no information on use in nursing mothers. The manufacturer recommends that women receiving PDL063 should not breastfeed.
